In June, I went searching for the owl family on the south side of Staring Lake. As I wandered, listening for the little one’s screeches, I was startled by one of the adult owls flying in front of me. I took a picture, then heard the female adult behind me (so first owl was the the male). I then heard the babies respond to mom, and was able to find and photograph all three!
As I was taking pictures of the babies, mom came out of the woods, and posed for an hour or so, right next to the trail for all to see. I spent an hour playing tour guide, as many walkers paused to wonder what I was doing!
