I was lucky enough to run into fellow birders who pinpointed where to find a new bird for my life-list – a Blue Grosbeak! It’s a bit out of range, and has been in the Staring Lake area for the last several years, but I never made it over to the fields to look.
The next time I went to find the Blue Grosbeak, I stumbled upon yet another new bird for me – an Orchard Oriole. This particular bird is a first-year male, the only time it looks like this. It took a long time to figure out what it was. I’m glad I had a photo to compare against!
The other additions to new birds, came from out Colorado trip for Scott’s wedding. Once in the Rockies, it seemed like most birds were “new”. The pictures added are of a Violet-Green Swallow, and a Mountain Bluebird.
